Sahara Desert Day Trip – Discover the Hidden Gems of Merzouga Experience an unforgettable day exploring the Sahara Desert around Merzouga. Morning – Nomadic Life & Desert Landscapes Your day begins after breakfast with a 4x4 desert excursion around the Erg Chebbi dunes. Our first stop is a traditional nomad family living in the desert, where you will be welcomed with Moroccan tea inside a handmade Berber tent. Here you will learn about the nomads’ lifestyle, traditions, and how families survive in the Sahara. Afterward, we continue driving through the desert to visit the abandoned village of Tamrdanit, a quiet historical place that once hosted desert communities and caravans. Walking through the ruins offers a glimpse into the region’s past. Midday – Mifis Mines Next we visit the abandoned village of Mifis, known for its old mines that were once used to extract minerals during the colonial period. The area offers dramatic landscapes and fascinating stories about the history of mining in the Sahara. Afternoon – Culture & Music in Khamlia We then head to the village of Khamlia, famous for its Gnawa music and rich African heritage. Here you will enjoy a live performance of traditional Gnawa music, played by local musicians using ancient instruments and rhythms passed down through generations. Lunch can be enjoyed in the village or back in Merzouga depending on the program. Late Afternoon – Lake of Serig (Dayet Srij) In the afternoon we visit Lake Serig (Dayet Srij), a seasonal desert lake that attracts flamingos and migratory birds when water is present. It is a peaceful place perfect for photography and enjoying the calm beauty of the Sahara
